Top ten lists of 2008 tire me out: Some of them are interesting but most of them are generally not. A summary here:
- Eurogamer Reader’s Top 50 games: Eurogamer currently runs the Editor’s Top 50 games of the year, which not nearly as interesting. It doesn’t surprise me that Fallout 3 tops the list of many reviewers as the best game of this year. If I find time, I might add my thoughts to the long list of people who reviewed this game.
- BBC’s Female Faces of the Year. The men’s section will be online by tomorrow, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Obama topped that list. Or George W. Bush.
- Scientific American’s excellent ‘Top 10 places already affected by global warming’. Additionally, SciAm’s biggest science stories of 2008 is worth a glance too. ArsTechnica came up with a top 10 of scientific breakthroughs.
- Wired (as usual) comes up with 10 significant breakthrough’s in Computer technology. Wired’s traditional vapourware top 10 is online as well, and not surprisingly, ‘Duke Nuke’Em Forever’ tops that list, again.
- The CBC has the 2008 Photogallery up, which features a picture with Dion and a smiling Ignatieff behind him, which kind of reminds of Ceasar and Brute1: Also see here for their selection of the biggest stories of 2008. The public broadcaster has its top 10 2008 media events right here, and yes, it features the silly CNN hologram. While I’m at it, the Globe’s top 10 movies of 2008.
- Talking about the CBC: Katrina Onstad’s 2008 movie picks (last year’s, or here on xsamplex, in Dec 2007).
1 I can’t wait for Hollywood writers and directors make a movie out of this. Who’d be playing Dion, I wonder.
DNF for ever and ever!
If there’s not going to be a game, maybe they should consider making a movie out of it…
