GeeMail

Thanks to Asa, I’m now an official Google Mail user. Or make that a betatester. If I ever get ‘invite friends’ links, beware. I know where you are. In the mean time here’s a couple of hints what to expect:

  • The whole system is consistent. The interface looks simple, but is pretty fast and not too hard to master.
  • The filtering system is not advanced, but will do for intermediate users.
  • There’s no ‘folder’ system (as far as I can see), but that’s not really necessary because of the use of labels. It’s intuitive, and (once again) simple.
  • I like the panel-like structure. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see this design pop-up in e-mail programs.

So all and all, not bad: it’s slick, thoroughly and consistently designed. And that 1 GB, that’s handy too, of course.

update: Am I the first Nova Scotian resident that has a GMail account, I wonder
