The most tragic thing about the Tsunami disaster is that the Aceh region seems to be the hardest hit area. Reports mention that 40,000 of the 120,000 residents may have been killed. In a region marked by conflict and the guerilla fight against the Indonesian military forces, the earthquake must have been a godsend for Jakarta and the Aceh freedom fighters.
In this light, the everlasting fight in Aceh, I find the Truth Laid Bear’s (and actually this whole right-wing-bloggers initiative) to buy Sumatra coffee a showcase of ignorance. Well meant naturally, however, there’s a huge difference between meaning well and doing well.
